This morning I felt discouragement and sadness trying to nudge its way in. I knew that I needed to do something uplifting and encouraging. I remembered watching a performance a few different times that made a lasting impression on me even when I was very young. Luckily, this performance was documented and is now posted on youtube. Hands down the most powerful and moving song I have ever heard. I wasn't there of course, but what a privilege it would have been to be among the audience that did get to see it. I added the words to better understand the deep meaning of the song. I am so thankful that I remembered this performance as it has greatly touched me this morning.
Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.
Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Here by Thy great help I’ve come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
O that day when freed from sinning,
I shall see Thy lovely face;
Clothed then in blood washed linen
How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry,
Take my ransomed soul away;
Send thine angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless day.

This has always been one of my favorites. My Dad has this CD and he bought it just for this song. This is the best performance I've heard of this song. I love the third verse. Anywho, I hope you are having a good day. Jared has an interview in Santa Barbara next week, and I map quested how far it is from Arizona....it looked much closer on the map, but it's still 7 hours. I was hoping it was closer to where you guys would be. What are your plans this summer for moving? When, where, how,....aka will you be driving by Idaho or Utah????? Let me know cause we'll be in Idaho all summer again. Love ya.
thanks for posting that! I love that song, and that performance is powerful. In fact, I watched it twice.
Tif...Dave is singing in this exact group!!!! He is somewhere in there! He was in BYU Mens Chior and I remember watching this with him years ago and just being overwhelmed with the music. We both LOVE this song and it makes me cry every time I hear it. The director is now directing the tabernacle chior. Amazing...what a incredible arrangement! When Uncle Dale's wife Vicki passed, their son Devon sang this at her funeral. I remember thinking what a gorgeous voice he had...I was sitting next to Lexine and we both we balling.
I'm sorry you are having a bad day. I was thinking about you on my way to the Temple this morning and I was going to call you but only had a few minutes and thought I didn't have enough time to talk. I should have listened to my feelings and called you just to tell you I love you and that you were on my mind. I do love you so much and I hope tomorrow your day is better.
Oh I'm sorry it was a sad day, or the beginning of one. What an amazing song it is. I truly love it and when the Mo Tab sings it, it brings me to tears. What a good thing to know that when I am having a bad day I need to go seek something spiritual, it really does help. I hope the rest of the day was ok for you.
